Opportunities

CEGE Graduate Student Professional Development Grant

Graduate students in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering are able to apply for travel grants to support graduate student development. The travel grants are competitive and each graduate student may apply for one travel grant per year. The Department will cover travel costs (airfare, hotel, ground transportation) up to $750. Travel policies apply.

Graduate Student Government

The Graduate Student Government (GSG) of Michigan Tech represents the professional, intellectual, and academic concerns of graduate students to the various governing bodies of the university and acts as advocate for graduate students. GSG Representatives work with the CEE Department Chair to provide programming for CEGE Graduate Students, faculty, and staff.

Support Services

The J.R. Van Pelt and Opie Library

Along with a growing collection of textual and electronic resources, the J. R. Van Pelt and Opie Library is connected to MELCAT & ILLIAD, so that students may retrieve sources from other institutions. The library also provides research and instructional support for all students. This modern and well-lit library has several group study rooms, computers, printing and photocopying areas, a buzzing café, University Archives and Historic records, and other amenities.

Graduate School Thesis, Dissertation and Report Guide & Seminar

The Graduate School hosts professional development seminars for graduate students.  Students are highly encouraged to participate in these professional development opportunities.
